LA2-RC2-OC2 Volatile Organic Compound Extractor

The LA2-RC2-OC2 VOC Extractor is intended to reduce volatile organic compounds and odors from the air we breathe. This unit is used in a variety of settings where odor removal is a top priority. These include smoke rooms, cigar lounges, hookah bars, marijuana grow rooms, etc. By absorption, the double-activated carbon filters remove odors and VOCs from the air steam. This LA2 configuration is frequently used in conjunction with other more commonly used filtering methods.

How do Air Purifiers Help in Removing Odors:

When it comes to reducing and eradicating odors from the air, an air purifier can prove to be your best friend.  Many air purifiers employ various methods capable of eliminating or removing certain odor-causing contaminants from the air. This includes HEPA filters and activated carbon filters. The LA2-RC2-OC2 relies heavily on activated carbon to remove VOCs and foul smells from the environment.

Activated Carbon for Odor Removal

Activated carbon (charcoal) has proven to be an extremely effective tool for removing unpleasant odors in confined spaces. The surface area of activated carbon allows the media to absorb organic compounds effectively. To begin, carbon is heated to extremely high temperatures via steam activation. This process then increases the surface area available for odor absorption. The odor enters through the pores and is absorbed by the activated carbon.

Finally, because the activated carbon is completely saturated with contaminants, it does not change shape. It can be reactivated with heat and made ready for absorption again.

Our standard carbon media is made of activated virgin coconut shells. Coconut shell carbon is extremely effective at removing common odors and VOCs produced by manufacturing processes.

Effective Filtration Method:

Two powerful centrifugal blowers are used to draw air through two filter screens. Since the main objective of LA2-RC2-OC2 is the removal of odors and VOCs, therefore, the unit features two 5-chamber carbon filters through which the air passes. The 5-chamber design allows for more time for VOCs to interact with the granular activated carbon. Contact time is an important factor in more thorough air stream decontamination.
